The Position

The Manager of Network and Infrastructure Security is a leadership role within NMC²’s Security organization, responsible for the security posture, operational health, and resilience of the network and infrastructure that underpins our data center and HPC environment. At NMC², the network is not just connectivity it is the backbone of one of the largest private GPU clusters in the world, carrying the workloads of research teams and technology partners who demand uncompromising performance and security.

You will lead a team of engineers responsible for protecting the organization's network architecture and underlying infrastructure across its full attack surface. This role oversees the design and enforcement of network security controls, including segmentation and micro-segmentation strategies, edge security, and infrastructure hardening initiatives. The manager drives the organization's exposure management program by ensuring continuous network scanning, vulnerability identification, and timely remediation in alignment with risk priorities. Success in this role requires the ability to translate technical findings into strategic roadmaps while fostering cross-functional collaboration with infrastructure, cloud, and IT operations teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of security engineers across network security, exposure management, segmentation, and infrastructure hardening disciplines

  • Set team priorities, manage workloads, and ensure alignment with broader security and business objectives

  • Partner with infrastructure, cloud, and IT operations teams to drive security initiatives and ensure consistent policy enforcement across the organization

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing management of network security controls, architecture, and edge security

  • Direct the strategy and execution of network segmentation and micro-segmentation initiatives to limit lateral movement and contain potential threats

  • Drive the organization's network scanning and exposure management program to maintain continuous visibility into the attack surface

  • Establish processes for timely identification, prioritization, and remediation of vulnerabilities in alignment with organizational risk tolerance

  • Oversee infrastructure hardening efforts across servers, network devices, and edge components to reduce attack surface exposure

  • Translate technical findings and risks into actionable roadmaps and executive-level reporting

  • Stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices to continuously evolve the team's capabilities and security posture

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an IT-related field or equivalent experience

  • 7+ years of experience in network and infrastructure security, with 5+ years in a mid-level or senior engineering role

  • Deep technical knowledge of network security concepts including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and secure network architecture design

  • Hands-on experience with network segmentation and micro-segmentation technologies and strategies

  • Demonstrated experience managing a vulnerability scanning or exposure management program, including remediation tracking and risk prioritization

  • Strong understanding of infrastructure hardening standards and frameworks such as CIS Benchmarks, NIST, or DISA STIGs

  • Experience with edge security technologies including secure web gateways, zero trust network access (ZTNA), and related controls

  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical risks into clear, concise reporting for executive and non-technical stakeholders
